From the ALA website:
A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess
In 1973 a book seller in Orem, Utah, was arrested to selling the novel. Charges were later dropped, but the book seller as forced to close the store and relocate to another city. Removed from Aurora, Colo. high school (1976) due to "objectionable" language and from high school classrooms in Westport, Mass. (1977) because of "objectionable" language. Removed from two Anniston, Ala. High school libraries (1982), but later reinstated on a restricted basis. Source: 2004 Banned Books Resource Guide, ed. Robert P. Doyle.

Like most banned books, it's not a general ban nation wide; challenges are generally local.

I have never read this. Is it a difficult book to read word-wise?. Heard so much about it and don't really know anything about it. I only saw parts of the movie, if that makes any difference.

I think it's a difficult read, only because he made up his own gorram language for it, and you have to flip back and forth if you can't understand what he means from context alone. The story itself isn't complex at all, though. I might watch the movie tonight--I haven't seen it since high school and don't remember a heck of a lot about it. I wonder if I could count that one as my horror movie for today? Hmmm...

I don't think Mr. King doesn't think people should read Rage; my take was that choosing not to include it in future printings was a step to protect himself from litigation, should someone attach his story to a school shooting. It was the right thing for him to do, financially. A writer writes what he or she has to, and most want others to read what they wrote. Right or wrong, though, there is a measure of risk in publishing something controversial, and Mr. King has a life, family, and staff to think of. There was no 'slash and burn' policy; the story is still out there, and not difficult to obtain. He just made the decision to mitigate the risk. It's understandable.
I had no idea he did that,i need to find me a copy, can you still get it say like on amazon, places like that?

Is there a web site or something that would have a list of all the banned books?

I found it for about 3 USdollars on both Amazon and Abebooks. That is Backman Books. The one only containing Rage is much rarer and therefore also pricey.
