I think the Winter Warlock served as the basic for Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings movies. :)

All Christmas songs pretty much rub me the wrong way. They all get into your head and never leave. I used to love them as a kid but no more!
I’ll sign my name under this one. And over half the preselected radio stations in my car started playing all xmas songs the day after Thanksgiving, so I don’t even bother trying to listen to the radio in December. I plug in my iPod or phone music.

As posted elsewhere, I'm in Kazakhstan at the moment.

I walked to a mall and was treated with the PA radiating Andy Williams crooning, "It's Christmas time in the city." And I'm thinking, What? Based on my experience here, there's no way that these folks understand that much English.
Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman traveled to and through Kazakhstan on their "Long Way Round" motorcycle tour, they fell in love with the people of Kazakhstan; it was magical.

Thought I'd get this one out of my system early....... What are the most bizarre or annoying songs of the season?

For me, It's Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer......I hate it. It makes my teeth hurt, and puts me in a foul mood when I hear it.
We played Grandma got run over by a Reindeer halfway through Grandma's funeral last year, because she always used to play it leading up to Christmas... really loud, so that if you were out in the street... you'd still hear it.
It would drive us crazy!

It made a lot of people laugh... and cry, it was nice to play it for her one final time.

The 11 Days of Ukranian Christmas

This was a hit on the local radio stations in Saskatchewan during the 70's. I think it was 'Metro' or 'Nestor Pister' who performed it. Lyrics below:

On the 11th day from Christmas, my Missus gave for me:
Eleven pails of borscht (beet soup)
10 pounds chesnak (garlic)
9 months pregnant
8 all my supper
7 four by two slabs
6 overalls
5 golden rings of kobasa (kielbasa...sausage)
4 holuptchi (cabbage rolls...)
3 rubber boots
2 perogies
and a bowl of sour cream for me!

That's a great way to honor your Grandma!....What a fun memory ♥

I sang Rock N Roll All Night at my brother's funeral.....only those sitting close to me could hear/understand what I was saying.
I like to think that somewhere, he was smiling.
