I still have an old small medium sized two shelf bookcase since I was a kid in the 1980s. The first shelf is full of books that are stacked vertically on top of each other. Bunch of Star Wars books old and some newer along with Under the Dome. Then the second shelf petty much crammed with DVDs and Nintendo DS games and Gamecube console.

Problem is I need a newer bigger bookcase. I even have more books lying around stacked in a pile in front of my bookcase.

You could probably even find something suitable for free if you look at any "freecycling" websites or pages for your area on Facebook. I have given away plenty of small bits of furniture over the years, and am always glad just to have the house space!

I found new homes for around 300 books last year...and I'm out of bookshelf space again :( I'm terrible at not buying books. I've had great luck finding bookcases at second hand stores. Now I just need to find more SPACE for another case--lol.

I'm in the same boat. Have sent off books to Goodwill and a teacher at a middle school for her classroom library. But I've still got several boxes and no more room in my bedroom/library-with-bed. No more room for shelves anywhere, either! I have to go through and do another cull. I have a few duplicate SK books and a couple books-on-cassette. And we haven't even gone through my daughter's children's books. :Oo:

I feel for you, that is exactly my problem. Space! And then suddenly you get the idea that if you move that thing there you could fit a bookcase there and noone knows the difference. But until then you walk around the place thinking about it and see no way out but so far, in the nick of time, the great solution has always arrived. What will happen the day it doesn't i don't even dare to imagine.... I guess i would have to move and leave the apartment to the books........

My parents had so many books, my dad put up wall-mounted shelves on almost every wall in our basement. It was like a library down there!

I don’t like reading novels from the Kindle. I’m surprised nobody has yet invented a sort of iNovel, consisting of an actual hardcover ‘book’ with blank receptor pages and cover, and a USB port where you can download a novel onto the pages and the cover. That way you only really need a couple of actual 'books' in your entire library. When you finished, you just clear it out and download the next novel into the iNovel... and can re-download anything at any time.
