Exactly. I mean, what if an American goes on holiday to Canada, then they decide not to let them back in?

I'm ok with being stuck in Canada.

This is a little off topic but it has to do with not getting out of a country. It's something everyone should think about before they go somewhere and make sure that if something goes wrong, they don't mind staying for a while. I know someone that was in Cancun a few years ago when Hurricane Wilma hit there. They were stranded there with no electricity and no way out for several days. They were in a touristy area but most of the hotels around had damage (luckily theirs did not and they could stay in theirs) and many people had to go to shelters. It's bad enough if you have to go to a shelter in your own country but it has to be much worse so far away from home when you don't speak the language.

The real crazy thing about that situation is that Hurricane Wilma left Cancun and then hit my friend's house in Florida a few days later.

I understand Michigan has an "enhanced driver's license" option, cost ten bucks...that enables one to cross the Canadian or Mexican border w/o a passport...don't know about other states. Heard this story yesterday about a man working out on Isle Royale (national park in Lake Superior)...had a heart attack...they came out of Thunder Bay (the bay gets it name from the chop of the current several direction at once)...anyway, the copter came out of Thunder Bay cause it's closer...they picked him up, brought him to...Calumet maybe...or maybe it was the Portage in Hancock...somewhere in the state anyway...and they were not allowed to land as they had not gone "through the customs".

So...they flew him to Thunder Bay...across the big lake again...treated him released him didn't charge him a dime. Another time one of the Lahti's died, the brothers call an ambulance...or that's what happens...you can't show up w/a dead person strapped down on the utility trailer...(you boys bring grandma to Jukuri's already!)...they get a bill the next day from the ambulance company for services rendered...must have dropped it in the slot on the way to the undertakers. Oh la.

A bunch of us are going to go and commandeer one of those duck-boat thingies over at Julio's boatyard...maybe take that howitzer that the city of Houghton has aimed at the city of Hancock across the Portage Canal....and mount that in the boat...make a raid on Canada...go get some of that Canadian Club...some Molson...whatever other brewskies we can pirate. Aaargh! Are you with me, mateys? :):abnormal:

you know, I do not in any way agree with her being blocked entry.... however, Ellen Richardson makes comments about how it was 'stunning that they had that information' about her.

This woman is all over the internet talking about her depression and illnesses..... she even has a website and wrote a book. Lady, they didn't have to dig up anything on you... you willingly put it out there for everybody to see.

Did she have a copy of her book in her luggage perhaps. Her first mistake was offering to autograph it for the Customs official

Only later, she added, did she wonder how the agent knew her history in the first place.
"It really hit me later — that it's quite stunning they have that information."
