Didn't read the whole story . . . the attendant advertising ( a necessary . . . inconvenience) was too much for me.

But I will say this:

It makes me wonder, sometimes (okay . . . most times) how it can be that stuff like . . . oh . . . I don't know -- let's say Cecil the lion -- gets people all up in arms as a matter of principle (which it should), but those same people never stop to think how many other people right here -- in this ridiculously wealthy country -- don't even have enough ( or the proper things ) to eat.

Because of our very human general tendency to believe that other humans are at some level responsible for what ever happens to them. If we admit at the deepest level that s*it happens and sometimes it's random, that's terrifying because it means s*it can happen to us. We want so desperately to believe in control. It's easier to sympathize with animals because we believe we're different from them--they aren't responsible. Why that isn't extended to children as well as animals is a mystery to me, because they're tiny hostages of fate. Yet, for all we corporately hand wring over a missing child, someone who kills a dog has a better chance of swift justice than someone who harms a child.

Humans are pretty ridiculous.

In my world, $35,000 is a huge amount of money. Good to know that the $35,000 wasn't wasted on something so meaningless as an insincere, and most probably doomed, marriage and went to feed the hungry and, at the same time, making good memories for someone.

Jilted at the altar (so to speak) - they turned something negative into a positive by feeding over 120 people.

Now Mom and daughter are going to take the trip to Belize, as the honeymoon was already paid for.

Poor girl - maybe the "one that got away" was not meant for her anyway. I wish her much luck and love in the future.

....I'm so glad that something positive was eked out of a sucky situation, and further-I hope that the penis with legs that backed out of the nuptials remembers that his birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory.....
