It's done. I went with hazel to mix both choices of color.

So, without more wait, here it is, scantily-clad Frannie Goldsmith (in spoiler tags because this is something that happens around two-thirds into the book).

Wearing nothing but a bathing robe and a silk dressing gown underneath. :D

And beside her, Larry Underwood and his new beard.

Now, I will always love Nick Andros and he will always be my favorite character from "The Stand". But the Larry from the book is so lovable and huggable. He is always finding flaws in himself, even when he beats those flaws every day of his new life.

I also love how he becomes her gay best friend practically as soon as they meet. They are very cute together, I think. :a11:

...ummm, Larry wasn't gay.....

Still, he was her gay best friend. No one needs to be gay to be a girl's gay best friend.

Let's see, in no time after meeting her, he...

- Talks endlessly about a guy he admires. Check.

- Becomes her confident with things she does not feel she can tell her "husband/man/boyfriend". Check.

- Spends time with her in things she must do without her "husband/man/boyfriend". Check.

Basically, that is the whole checklist of the requirements a gay best friend needs to fulfill.

Besides that, there is that feeling I get when they are together. She does not seem to feel threatened or inhibited when she is with Larry, being totally at ease with him. She feels she can trust him with things she has been carrying with her as soon as she meets him.

Larry is less imposing than her totally masculine man Stu; she has thought how things might have been different before (when a woman could be the provider and head of the house, and when she did date a more "pretty boy" type, Jesse), but now a pregnant girl needs this kind of strong man. Hairy back and all. Larry is more the model boy than a protector and provider.

Going even further, even if I would never say he is really gay, there are a few things that feel at least a little "gay-like". He becomes obsessed with an unreachable female, someone whom he can flirt with but who will not let him do anything to her.

Said woman is also very beautiful and exotic, not simply cute or sexy or hot, but of unnatural beauty. This makes me feel like the divas with lots of gay fan-boys. Think "Cher" or "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark".

Something that, sadly, is still true in this day, is how some gays feel guilty or inadequate, for no real good reason, just because what society says and how they were educated or forced to feel about themselves. Larry spends a good time second guessing himself and putting himself down, even when he has been doing good things.

These last things I just mentioned as giving me a "gay" vibe. But the checklist above is enough to qualify Larry as the gay best friend any girl could want. :D

Trust me. It's a gay thing.

It can be scary when girls start talking about the things they do not tell other guys, or even other girls. Yet there they are, spilling their guts without holding anything.

Of course, they pay it back by listening to said guy talking about his crush(es).

Then they go shopping together. ;DD ;DD ;DD ;DD ;;D

New pic.

The writer who visits the town of 'Salem's Lot to beat the nightmares that have haunted him since his own chilhood, Mr. Benjaman Mears. Plus, the Marsten House in the background.

He has finished writing for that day, so he already took a shower (he is no longer soaked in sweat, as he usually is while writing in his rented room).

New pic. From "The Stand", they are the Underwoods (although young Joe may well be "underwear", instead).

Larry, Nadine and Joe share a happy moment. :D

I toned down the red in Larry's hair. I Googled "tawny" and it seems it has a larger proportion of brown mixed in with the red and gold. I hope this is closer to the real color of Larry's beard and hair. :dread:

Cities, women, treasure, power.

Hearing.

Nick Andros wants all of these things, and Randall Flagg can give them to him.

If Nick falls down on his knees and worships him.

Randy goes for the weak, the persecuted, the rejects. Nick can be thought of as all of these. In a sense, he would be an ideal recruit for Flagg's side.

But these Jesus-sized personalized temptations must mean Randall realized Nick was the purest soldier on the side of good (even if Nick himself could not see it).

Gracias, Cowboy.

And thanks, not Nadine. What about that woman in the pic whose name is not yours? :beguiled:

I started penciling a pic of a feral Joe before I started working in this pic, but I wanted to first do a happy Joe, before I showed his dark side. Did you notice the mosquito-stings and all the cuts in his legs?

I wonder how many people think of him as not Caucasian. In TV Tropes (a site I spend a lot of time on), someone included Joe in the list of non-Caucasian characters.

Of course, I was like "whaaat?", just because he has slanted eyes, that does not make him Asian. Actually, many times it is mentioned that the eyes make him look Chinese; the wording would not be that way if he were actually Asian. Also, his "dark" skin is just a product of his being semi-naked and not staying under protection of the sun; the skin barely covered by his underwear is white. Plus, and that should put the probabilities of his race largely into Caucasian territory, his eyes are sea-colored (blue-gray).

None of that has any real relevance here, being nothing but a rant, but I had to say something about it, and no one here knows the characters or the story that well (the ones who know of it, do because of the TV mini).

And please forgive me for my deformed and small-sized guitar... It was already too late when I realized it was supposed to be a 12-string guitar, so all I could do by then was damage control. :blue:
