The company that produces the movie has to purchase the film rights and once they are sold, he no longer owns those rights. He does not give up any publishing rights, however.I have a question concerning film rights: if Mr. King was the one who wrote the book that the film(s) is/are based on, then how does he not have the rights to that production, whether it be the book or the film?
