Well, now sweden has got, not the flu (it already had that) but the panic that seems to go with it. When i left you last thursday the total was 2 cases of Corona, now its spmewhere between 15 and 20. I have for the first time ever seen two people going around outside with a facemask you know the kind that is supposed to stop infection spreading. Never seen before in sweden. Stores are bought out, shelfes empty because we have also read The Stand. As long as we dont panic i think we can beat this thing.
At least 2 my side of the state. Too close.
Don't think we have many cases here in Canada yet - okay - just looked it up:

(those we have are in other provinces: 18 in Ontario, 8 in BC and 1 in Quebec)

Out here in the middle of the country we don't have any (in Manitoba)

:doc:

It's pretty cold here but I don't think that has anything to do with the virus - I heard the best prevention is to wash your hands frequently

My one daughter works in a pharmaceutical manufacturing/packaging company. As part of her job she often has to go into the many production areas for support. One room requires her to wear a HASMAT suit and respirator. She uses a hand sanitizer after she goes into any room that has a potential danger. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 she says everyone comes to her desk and uses her hand sanitizer and she is now running out. She asked me to pick some more up for her. I visited 5 places in the last two days and they were all out of stock.

It probably will spread. Busses, trains are perfect places. A touch, a cough, a sneeze and it can spread. up to 2 m from origin source. So if people travel to Manitoba chances are that sooner or later someone infected will make that trip. I have found its very different how people react. The first infected in Sweden, a woman, was extremely sensible. She realized that that she was contagious. So she called friends, asked them to deliver food outside her door but absolutely not to come in. When they had rung the door, left the food after a while she got the food. She put herself in quarantine successfully. Didn't infect anyone and eventually got well. Another, a man, got home sick from Milan (that ought to have been a clue) Then traveled with both bus and train in sweden and is thought to have gotten in contact with at least 20 people. The thought being "it cant happen to me". We have at least 4 cases in Stockholm as of today.

We’re all screwed. The flu most people get these days is a variation of the 1918 Spanish Flu. The coronavirus COVID-19 will not be wiped out. It will probably last for a hundred years or more is some variation. Everyone will catch it in the next couple of years. It’s inevitable, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
Well, we'll sit on the curb out front and watch. Laugh & throw beer cans at it as it goes by. :)

I live in the state of Washington and it's getting bad in the Seattle area. I live on the other side of the state but 4 of the interned from one of the cruise ships were brought here to Spokane as we have the types of hospital quarantine rooms to deal with the virus. They already let 2 of the people go home. I hope that it won't spread here. My best friend and her husband both work at the hospital where the quarantined people stayed.

....unless one is very young, elderly, immunocompromised, has a bad heart or lungs-the risk is not that high in my opinion, yes, you’ll get sick but it’s not the death sentence the media would like everyone to believe.....standard precautions folks, that’s the trick....

I made a mask. It may not work against the virus but it should keep people with the virus away from me. :)

OK, tuesday is over here and we are now at 30 cases. This day we got 15 new cases.

My best friend and her husband both work at the hospital where the quarantined people stayed.
Stay safe!

Here we don't have any cases, though the statistics are definitely not correct as we do not have enough tests to check everyone who is sick. I personally know a woman who contacted a person from China, she got sick a week after that, she informed her doctor but he just said: ah, whatever, you don't have that virus. Well, she probably had another desease, but I am sure that we have cases of coronavirus here. I am not afraid of it, as I understand it is just a virus, one of millions. But I know it is dangerous for the elderly and the sick, so I hope my grandparents and my parents won't encounter this virus. And it would be great if people who got some symptoms did not make contacts with their older relatives to keep them safe.

Here is an idea.
In a smart world, to prevent the spread of an infectious disease, you would shut the world down, stop the airports, lock countries down, it would have caused chaos, but nothing like what is going down now. But we didn't, becasue we aren't in a smart world. And why did we not do this?
Simple. Money.
It would have lost too much money to shut the world down.
Well, we can't blame anyone but ourselves.
