what it means, and how it is used in this sentence seems to be conflicting in context of what I read. Yes. I know. Incoherent babbling.

This is a better video promoting Sandy Passages, the Grey Gardens parody.Grey Gardens? I don't think so. It is mentioned in the Documentary thread as I mentioned it, hahahaha! That was a fascinating one too. The way they were living sort of ties in with the thread Tery just started about abandoned buildings and Flash fiction. Although in Grey Gardens, they were actually still living there.
You should also watch the parody show, Documentary Now! -- They did their own take on Grey Gardens.
Heeeelarious!
American Heroes Channel showed a doc on that last night.Wow.
I've read several books on Chernobyl and watched some very good documentaries. I was amazed at how high the radiation readings were on the back side of tree limbs, rocks, etc. all these years later. I think being a scientist and going into that area, properly protected, and checking out the soil, animal, etc, would be one of the most fascinating jobs to do. Fukushima also, same deal. How interesting would that be to be able to explore that area?
I have read a few books about these atrocities and it turned my stomach. There was one story in particular that put me in a black funk for a week. I don't think I could even describe to you what happened, too dark. King's novella, "Apt Pupil" had a similar effect on me so I don't know how I'd do with watching this episode. Somehow, though, I was able to watch Schindler's List and despite the sadness I got through it.Oh wow wow wow.
We are now in a prison in wales that is a museum. Of very disturbing things from slave times to Nazi Germany and concentration camps and many more things.
They actually just showed a lamp made out of human skin from the camp. Supposedly it has been tested and proven to be human skin.
Skin has DNA, right? I mean, it would have DNA. That should be immediately confiscated, DNA tested, the family notified and the lamp interred or destroyed, cremated -- but not allowed to be displayed. That's just sick.
It's human tissue that needs to be dealt with quickly and respectfully. He shouldn't be making money off of it.
Each episode has many stories, so that particular part of the story lasted tops 5 minutes, you could fast forward through it.I have read a few books about these atrocities and it turned my stomach. True, I might do that. As I've gotten older I have become more of a weenie, LOL. Even fake stuff like Hostel and Saw are too...I don't know what the right word is. It's not the gore or the violence but in some of these films it is as if the director revels in the torture, the blood, the screams. Each episode has many stories, so that particular part of the story lasted tops 5 minutes, you could fast forward through it.
This lamp really bothers me. That is someone's loved one who died at the hands of ignorant, brutal savages.
No, I understand. The gore and violence for the sake of shock and just trying to out do the next guy, I don't get it.True, I might do that. As I've gotten older I have become more of a weenie, LOL. The lamp...yeah, wow. Humans are capable of the most bestial, vile acts. But even animals aren't that cruel...that wickedly creative. That's a deep, pathological hatred that is almost beyond comprehension.
I agree. No, I understand. The gore and violence for the sake of shock and just trying to out do the next guy, I don't get it.
It's a desensitizing people.
You show them brutality long enough and they accept brutality. You speak hate speech to them and they accept hate.
You wear down common decency and compassion and humanity is screwed.
Sigh. Had to fast forward through a segment where you can pay to blow up a cow. What sick f pays to go do that?
Wow.

...all that beautiful stained glass!Trust this Guy, he knows, what he is talking bout
Oh! I saw your post after the board closed and then forgot to come back. So, you and I did discuss this meaning over the weekend but I thought the other guys might like to know as well. And I have learned a new phrase:
Give us a hoon.
FlakeNoir, this apparently originated in New Zealand, what the hell does it mean to you?
okay, what's a rarkie?Oh! I saw your post after the board closed and then forgot to come back. So, you and I did discuss this meaning over the weekend but I thought the other guys might like to know as well.
Mostly we don't really hear the "Giv'us a hoon" too much... unless the Aucklanders are all talking this way now and I just haven't heard it!
We did use to say "I'm going off for a hoon." when we intended to drive somewhere, perhaps even a little offroad... maybe not entirely legal in certain circumstances. Okay, it often referred to us doing rarkies.
David is pretty cool, he gets right in there and asks the probing questions.
...a small breed of terrier....okay, what's a rarkie?
