YES!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for catching that....................................

Please ignore above post. Can I still chalk it up to CRS and old age. :umm:

Discussion is Wednesday August 29.

I caught it because I usually don''t have taco crumbs on my shirt when I read the group discussion stories. Since I'm covered in taco crumbs right now, I didn't think it was the right day.

...I will go early as 4 am beckons....I actually hoped for a happy ending to this one, but Joe-as has dad has also done-punches through your guy, pulls out the viscera and clog dances all over them....the graphic novel series is written and drawn famously as well....

The story really takes a sudden turn in the last couple of pages.

Yes, it sure does. In fact, I think that can be said of the entire story, sudden turns. I kept guessing where Hill was going and what tone he was trying to establish and felt myself in complete wonder. He has a unique way of approaching childlike subjects with a deft hand without being loopy or overly nostalgic. I think he's an exciting new voice in the horror genre. His work is new to me, I should clarify.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

I'd compare him to Spielberg, in that way. Their minds operate on that fantastical plane...anything can happen and at any time.
Have you read more of Joe's stories in 20th Century? As an older reader, I see a lot of his childhood experience being expanded upon. Simple things-- a cape , a brother, add some magic and you have a winner.

So far I've read: "Best New Horror", "20th Century Ghost", "Pop Art", "The Black Phone", and "The Cape". Yes, I wondered if Eric and Nick was a shadowy manifestation of a young sibling rivalry in the King household. In a fun way, of course. I liked the scene where Nick calls Eric (who is staying in his mom's basement) and they are forcing themselves to be cordial, adult.
