OK, so I felt bad Thinner didn't have anything in it yet. The book is my favorite of the Bachman novels. I loved the book and I thought they did the movie well. I didn't read the book as Bachman novel though, I read it in paperback with Stephen King's name on the cover when I was younger.
I did find it in the book club edition recently with no mention of King and "Bachman's photo." It's pretty cool. The message throughout the book I always thought is "Don't be a jerk because payback is hell."

Of course, it was great - but I lost my copy before I finished! I was reading it on vacation in 1988 and we had a scary flight that got bumpy enough to make my book fly out of my hands - I was down to the last few chapters. I should find out what happens.

I hate that (some of) my kids have read this one now.. because at different times, they'll sneak up to me and run a (scary-assed) finger down my cheek, whispering.... "Theeeeeeeener".
It's very dramatic... and so what if I'm a lil superstitious?! o_O :D

I loved Thinner. I'm lucky enough to have a hard back copy with a picture of Richard Bachman and it's dedicated to his wife Claudia. I thought it was about taking responsibility when you do something wrong instead of hiding behind your priviledge.

I read it as a Bachman but knew it was a King.

...that would be a cool title for a study of the King/Bachman dichotomy....

Oh wow - I didn't know there was a release with some made up bio and pictures! How cool to own that! I'll be looking for it. By the time I read it, everyone knew it was King.

Well, this (Claudia Inez) makes a little more sense to me now. Thanks!

I started re-reading my copy which I bought about 30 years ago. My copy still has the paper band that went around the outside noting the book was written by Stephen King. It's pretty good, but the narrative reminds me a bit of Insomnia. The book should get a minor boost when the PS reissue comes out. Some great artwork: 30th Anniversary edition of THINNER jhc Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman

I got to somewhere in the 3rd chapter. It has been awhile.

Just the way it was described...... I called my sister and said... This is Stephen King.

No way anyone else could write like that.

So you knew before it was officially announced? So did I. It was when someone drank a brand name pop. I think it was Coca Cola.
