I was reading Poe the other day and it reminded me of the end of Revival, so I wanted to see what people thought. It's basically all a spoiler, so my whole comment is in the spoiler button although I differentiate between Poe and Revival spoilers.
At the end of Revival, Jacobs finds a terminally ill woman and waits for her to die to see if he could revive with his electrical energy.
I was reading "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" by Edgar Allen Poe. In this story, an expert in "mesmerism" who hypnotizes a terminally ill man just as he starts to die, to see what happens. The man stays on the edge of death (or in between life and death) before declaring he is really dead and then decaying.
Now this ending actually reminded me a lot of Lovecraft's "Thing on the Doorstep." But it felt reminiscent of the end of Revival. I know King was inspired by Lovecraft and Machen, but maybe he was thinking of Poe as well?
