A friend is a breeder for Labs--said they are pups for at least five years (the chewing, etc). I know ours was that way. Maybe Retrievers are the same? :) Obedience training helped with a lot of behavioral issues, but not chewing. She just had to outgrow that one.

Retrievers are very similar in nature/behaviour to Labs... don't expect too much too soon, but do be firm ("no" when she bites or mouths) and consistent... every single time.

Yes, for sure they are. My dog is a lab/boxer mix - talk about a baby. She's a little over 2 years old now and STILL very much a baby. But she's so sweet (and crazy) and simple.

A big baby and getting bigger... I took her again for frisibee trying... trying is the word. >)

I went food shopping last night. I realized I was just looking for things that the pup would be happy about.

The neighbors must think that I am a crazy person. They probably don't see puppy as I am twirling around with a full green poop bag. Yea, that's fun for her to jump after too.

I am a goner... I can not stop brushing and kissing her and lets me.

Oh crap there goes my magazine gootta to active chewing going on..

Now it is early and I went out and got her a slim-jim and took her for loooong walk. Frisbee meh for her. She is eating a marrow bone on a towel. (good girl) and I have some peace.

She keeps me grounded. I have a big
responsibility

yup yup.

You are good for each other... :) Talk to your neighbour/trainer because it sounds like she will be a wealth of information for you.

I have two dogs. The elder one came to me when he was 1 year old and the younger one was a little sweet puppy when I got her. I have
had more trouble with the elder dog. He likes to chew on my stuff and he's favorite is pillows. If I haven't done a long walk before work or if I am
away too long. He starts to eat my pillows. He have already destroy a pillow I had on my couch and another one that I had on my bed. The younger
one she's a thief. If I forget food, bread on the table for a while, she jumps on the edge of the table and steal food. Her favorite is definitely bread.
You can not leave anything on the table unattended. But I still love them so much. They also have a bad habit, they bark too much sometimes.

Hopefully she's calm down a little when she's older not nadine. My younger dog is a mix breed and there's lab in her too. She's crazy and full of energy
even if she's 4 years old already. Hope you have some trainer that can help you. Long walks is good. They calm down and get tired more easily.

Long time critter owner here...couple things...tire him or her out every day. That means strap on tennis shoes and do a three mile walk or at least am and pm every day. We have a jack russell mix, yeah, hyper doesn't begin to describe him. Rubber tennis squeeky ball that he fetches is the best toy ever.

Also, don't give her kissies and snuggles when she is naughty. Check out'Cesear Milan' and 'It's me or the dog' (I think that is Victoria Stilwell's).

Oh, no. I missed work on a Monday. She attacked me no kidding. She was so excited .. I just had to lay down with a hoodie on.. bruised and bleeding. A Golden Retriever.

I just could not take another typical morning. Get up walk ,, pick up poopies... Shower time... first chase her around with stolen lighter, or make-up brush.. Get into shower. yup she is there snapping at everything soaking wet.

Dry dry off,, she is happy still in tub biting at water trickles.... Dry her off.. she is now talking grr grrr barkies.. .

now I have to do my hair.. dry... doggie talks grr grr high pitch yap.. stomping of feets spinning..

So we share the blow dryer.. happy happy biting on air...

She is only 5 months old.

N.N, do you have a crate for her? Is she crate-trained? It sounds like it might be an idea to perhaps have her be in the crate after her walk just while you're getting ready for work. If you are consistent with her routine, she will know what to expect next and possibly be a little easier to handle during your busy times.
If she is jumping up on you and using her mouth/teeth, you need to try and curb this right away--with a low, firm voice, say "no" and raise your knee high when she jumps up on you, the moment she is down, lift your voice slightly (without baby-talk) and say "good girl".
If she gets over-excited inside, don't be afraid to put her on a short lead and put her through a series of 'sits, downs, and stays'... it will get her listening to you--her mind is craving lessons, because she will be super-intelligent and be bored easily, so challenge her when you can with short training episodes.
Don't be afraid to 'treat train'... you don't always have to reward with a food treat, a squeaky toy, or piece of rope will do just as well. (try not to play tug of war with rope--if you can't 'win' every time... she will soon realise that you are only 'sometimes' in charge)

Consistency will be your friend, she has to know that every time she makes right choices, it will please you--and also that every time she screws up... you won't tolerate it, kind, but firm direction is what she needs while she is learning. :)
