The big pot of soup my Mom used to make with barley and beef. Sometimes she would make chicken and dumplings. And we had mashed potatoes with a sort of stew on top made with ground beef and gravy with onion chopped fine. She called it "hamburg stew" but when I went over to Scotland I found out they call it "Mince and Tatties"
I love that stuff

I think that most people would choose a "stew" based meal, my choice would have to be a chicken casserole with carrots, onions and peppers in the mix, served with cheesy mashed potatoes followed by steamed treacle or toffee pudding with custard.
Later, how about toasted crumpets with lashing of butter!

Soup! I stock up on soup when the cold is coming and carry a soup thermos to work...but I have to eat it early, say around the 10 am kahvi aiga...but yeah, homemade chili is a plus...someone send me some pea soup as my wife is not a fan though I am. If work is slow I like to feed the machine some grease, bacon and eggs, hash browns, toast, coffee. Yum!
