Tor is 22 months, and has become an all-terrain baby. Today he was standing on the table, and he found an outlet (of sorts) hiding behind a calendar on the wall.

Anya, my 18 year old, ran off to find the adults...and this is where I start feeling ancient.

She said, "Tor is trying to poker's finger into.....something....it looks like a USB port?!"

Can you guess what it actually was?

It was a PHONE JACK! Apparently in today's cellular world, these are unrecognizable to the next generation. It may as well have been a spinning wheel, except I think she would know what that was. A 45rpm record, perhaps?

Life is changing fast for these young people.

Remember that one handset in the kitchen with the spiral cord that seemed to stretch through the whole house (and also get rid of the family vultures on holidays)?

These days you have to brandish arms.

There was nothing like being a teenager and talking to a girl on the phone while you stood in the kitchen and your parents were sitting just a few feet away. That spiral cord couldn't stretch far enough. ;-D

I called one of my doctor's offices today to change my appointment. Of course, you never get a live person any more, but the automated voice said that if you have a rotary phone to please hang on until an operator could help. I thought, now who still has a rotary phone?
OMG!! I found one at Amazon! Pink too! $100.00!

When we originally toured our house that we ended up buying, they still had two working old-fashioned two-handed candlestick phones as well! Unfortunately they didn't come with the house.

I always thought those were cool. Maybe it's from watching Bogart using one while holding a smoldering cigarette between two fingers.
