Why didn't you use your name on the cover page? Or anywhere else, skimming through the work. Thank you for the read. :) Will be some time before I can get to it, alas...reading a long story now, The Recognitions...'bout halfway through. Your book doesn't seem near as long. How'd you go about deciding what words to include?

I used a nom de plume that I had used as a columnist writing these word pieces. This way, I can use my real name when I publish on other topics, plus I have some name recognition with my original audience.

I chose words that are basic to the political world first; like Senate, Congress, the party names, etc. Then I chose word/phrases that are used a lot: slush fund, gerrymander, blue dog and so forth. Last, I went for slang used by politicians and those who deal with them. That's where slang like barking head, POTUS and zoo plane came in.

Thanks for skimming and no worries on time. I'm just happy that you downloaded it. There will be more in the series, covering other words, too. Watch this space. ;)

Finished The Recognitions and I read your book, Tery...thank you again. :) That's a pile of words! I wonder if some of the words of the past are no longer with us, for whatever reason. What I mean is...do you know or suspect that some political words and jargon has fallen out of use? That would be a curious read, if one could accumulate the political words of the past that are no longer with us. I imagine one would have to....what? scour old papers and the like, original sources? one word not in your book...I think I've seen this: GOPe or maybe it has the smaller letter before the larger. Not sure what it means...establishment? GOP establishment? It is/was used in a derogatory sense, a freep-in website, where I go to read things...post something once every two years or so to stay active but some places aren't conducive to discourse.

Anyway, informative little book...first in a series?
