That's OK, life is still good even when the sparkle doesn't work anymore..View attachment 18866
(these birds used to sparkle! I don't know what happened to them!)
I have not but will make it the next one.. thanks!
If you have not read The Stand yet, I highly recommend! Erase from your brain any scenes of something you may have seen on TV with same name!
PS Click on spoiler button to see what hides behind it.
Noted, thanks.Welcome.

Short stories are like songs, your favorites are always changing. Sometimes you are so sick of one until a year goes by and you suddenly love it again.. Beachworld never gets old.Hi, Jeff, I'm Crank, hic. My favorite stories from Skeleton Crew changes depending on the day. I like 'Beachworld' today.
Welcome to the SKMB! This is a great place to be!Hi All,
I guess we all have to start somewhere so here it goes.. My first exposure to SK was in the early 80's with the book "Skeleton Crew" which hooked me. Since then I have read multiple books, short story collections and watched quite a few made for TV movies based on SK books. When Mr. Mercedes came out I gobbled that down and waited for the second installment. Once that was done my youngest son Chad purchased the final book "End of Watch" for me for Christmas. Little did I know that this book would be a foreshadowing of a parents worst nightmare this past September. One reason I was even poking around anything Steven King related, and signed up for this site was to possibly send a thank you to him for having concern for this subject. (yes, I am being very vague on this knowing that some people have yet to read the book) So, even though I would give anything to have my story end differently than it did, I really appreciate SK and his heart for this issue.
We move on, this looks like a well managed site and I hope I can be a part of it.
Yes you're correct, thanks for picking that up and for your kind words. Funny thing is that it was he that gave me the book, how is that for crazy salad? Its all good, just not always easy.Welcome to the SKMB! This is a great place to be!
Reading between the lines and because I just finished a re-read of the trilogy, I am assumingThere are many folks here who can be very supportive, if you need them. Glad you found the board.that your son committed suicide. If so, I'm very sorry for your loss.
....my wife and I are also survivors-her sister took her own life and it is a pain only those of us left behind can know.....you have our support and good thoughts....Yes you're correct, thanks for picking that up and for your kind words. Wow, sorry for your loss as well. Its a lousy club to be in but your right, only those in it know how it feels. Thanks for telling me about this, I appreciate it. Its funny how many people have come up to me with stories like yours, there is strength knowing that there are people who really understand the pain. Thanks again.....my wife and I are also survivors-her sister took her own life and it is a pain only those of us left behind can know.....you have our support and good thoughts....
Oh, I know what you mean. That moniker was lifted from me, ya know? Wasn't even given credit for it either. The nerve, I tell ya!Because you're addicted to SK, silly.
Watch out. That name makes me nauseated.
We'll wait till you're good and broken in before we start raising our brows. Sorry about your loss. I can't imagine what it is like for those who have lost a loved one that way.Wow, I am really blown away by the number of responses to my post.. thank you.
Doc asked about Skeleton Crew and my favorite story, good but tough question. The Mist is always a favorite read, there is so much character development in that one that it is always fun to see what new thing can be gleaned from it. The Reapers Image is the one that creeps me out the most, I like that. There is nothing more scary than dealing with something that you have no control over and really don't understand. (ie. Jerusalem's Lot and The Monkey) The Reach is a real feel good story, I like that too.
Every year we have a New Years Eve party with some friends from church. One of the games we play is filling out an anonymous questionnaire of things you did, places you went, books you read etc and then try to guess who wrote them. There are more than a few eyebrows raised when it comes to light that I am a die hard SK fan. Sorry I am so wordy, its nice to be in a group with nary a raised eyebrow..
Thanks for responding. My favorites are The Wedding Gig, Mrs. Todd's Shortcut, and Uncle Otto's Truck. The Reach is probably the best of the group. The Monkey and The Reaper's Image are fun, too, as you say. One can almost hear Rod Serling's voice introducing each story.Wow, I am really blown away by the number of responses to my post.. thank you.
