Briefly: I'm a high school teacher and I'm looking for resources to teach It.

The Details:
I'm a Special Education English teacher and I'm trying to help a fellow English teacher create a curriculum for It. But not a regular lesson plan or curriculum for a regular high school. We teach at a residential alternative school for young men affected by trauma - meaning our high school guys have been through a lot of difficult times. Unfortunately, not all of their stories are very different from what the kids go through in It, so teaching It actually offers an opportunity to not only get guys to enjoy reading in English class and support that reading through the movie & other existing resources, but it also allows us to really get at and treat some of their own issues & past trauma. My fellow teacher is also an MFT so together, this is a really exciting project (the entire center is a wraparound model with additional MFTs, LCSWs, & other therapy staff on site if needed as we delve into the trauma issues). But developing lesson plans from a trauma informed perspective for use in an English class is pretty difficult. We have some great resources right now but I wanted to know if anyone out there had any recommendations for teaching It to high schoolers or helping students process trauma through the use of Kings stories. Any suggestions or pointing in the right direction would be most welcome.
Thank you!

Hi and Welcome

May I ask, please - what does MFT stand for? Thanks!
