I'm a big Auburn fan so was disappointed when they lost to FSU in the championship game this past January. I won't make any excuses - the FSU coaches simply outcoached the Auburn coaches from midway in the second quarter through the rest of the game, and the FSU players executed better in that time until they took the lead with :13 remaining in the game.
I'm not sure if Auburn can get through a brutal schedule unscathed this year, even though after last year, anything is possible. I'm glad football season is finally back, though.
I don't have a favorite pro team, but never like the Cowboys. I don't care for the Seahawks since their coach got to leave USC in shambles while he skipped merrily on his way to a new job. But maybe that's just me.

All through Spring and Summer I've been waiting for the day
Football season started... I could watch New England play.
Yesterday it happened; 'twas their first game of the year.
By the end, the reasons I'd missed football weren't clear.

'though at first it seemed that we had dominating stats -
23 unanswered points...? The Dolphins beat my Pats.
Our Offensive line had gaping holes they couldn't shut;
Brady spent the second half of football on his butt.

Defense did no better for they couldn't stop the run.
Patriots looked awful 'neath that hot Miami sun.
(Hopefully, it's not a sign we've made the sports gods mad.)
Belichick's got work to do, 'cause yesterday was bad.

All of my picks this weekend are pretty much shot. I didn't expect Virginia Tech to be upset by freaking East Carolina. I also didn't expect Georgia to cough one up to South Carolina. Although I can understand that one.

When the Saints lost to the Browns today I pretty much gave up my future as a game picker guy.
