That Bengals vs Creamsicles game was tough to watch. Been a Dolphins hater from way back in the 70's when they always killed the Jets. Must be turning into an old softy in my old age as I really felt sorry for them last night.

I don't know if Adam Gase is going to be a good head coach or not but the Dolphins don't have a prayer unless they give him some stability. One of the things that people may not notice from afar is how the front office can't stay out of football things. You can look at the Joe Philbin or Tony Sparano eras and say, "well they each had 3+ years and nothing changed." But what you probably don't see from afar is each one of these coaches had their staffs gutted by the front office while they were head coaches. The Dolphins would have a bad stretch and the front office would force a coordinator out or other coaches. The Dolphins coaches have not had a lot of control over their staff. I'm not sure how a coach can be successful if he can't even pick his own staff. I think why the Dolphins keep hiring these first time coaches is so that the front office can control them easier than a guy who's been around the block. I think they have some serious ego issues in the front office. It kind of reminds me of the GM the Bulls had when Michael Jordan was there. He used to like to tell anyone that listened that he was the reason the Bulls were winning not Michael. ;-D

When they forced him out, he probably still had another good 10 years in him. But even he was struggling after the old owner Joe Robbie died and Joe's son Tim was forced to sell to Huizenga. There was a horrible family fight over Joe's estate and the team had to sell. If Tim would have kept the Dolphins, things would have been much better. If I remember correctly, Tim sold the Dolphins for 95 million and Huizenga sold it for over a billion a few years later. The Robbie kids that forced that sale really cost themselves.

My son, a Broncos nut, is coming over tomorrow for the Broncs-Bucs game. In the Establishment's first show of an iota of respect, the Broncos are actually favored.

Now I'm really nervous. The Broncos have a long established history of playing down to their opponents. And still with a virtual rookie quarterback who, yes, lit up the field in the fourth quarter last game, but still has a big question mark tattooed on his jersey.

It's those games that you want to take for granted that you really need to watch for.

Well, we had quite a nice visit. The rain delay was offputting, but we like each other's company.

And the virtual rookie QB was replaced with a real rookie QB, and they both performed splendidly. Elway's willingness to let Osweiler go to another team for Osweiler's demand of way too much money is looking pretty darn smart now.

In last night's pre-game entertainment before the Grand Final, they had Richie Sambora and Orianthi and afterwards Keith Urban. I liked Sambora better as I knew their songs. 'Wanted Dead or Alive' and 'Living on a prayer', I don't know any Keith Urban songs. In the 2002 Grand Final, Billy Idol was performing with band. They had practised earlier that day. But the guitarist apparently brought a different guitar or something that was based on American voltage, and it blew all the power and shorted everything out. He still had the microphone and he was saying 'Give me some power!' But they couldn't fix it so no performance.

Ugh! That was an ugly game for the Patriots. Penalties right from the start. Now we'll never hear the end of it from Rex Ryan.

All in all, 3-1 without Brady is pretty good. Brady back next week. Hopefully, we will be back in the win column.

That 90 yard play being called back really set the tone for the day.

Well, whaddayaknow... The mighty Pats fell to the lowly Mr. Ryan and his Bills. Not that I'm gloating... Wait a sec... I am gloating.
