I don't like the term "Ginger" most times it is used as poking mean fun.
Oh Mama was a mean lil' firecracker of a redhead if ya got her hackels up, didn't take a whole lotta doin' neither, well, um, least not for me it didn't...never in a million years woulda called her a ginger.
Nope, a nephew though, on her 90th birthday bash at a casino buffet over strawberry cheesecake, strawberry anything being on of her favorites, go figure, well he asked her "Grandma, weren't you a ginger back in the day?"...now I can't say for a fact she knew exactly what he was askin', but he got whopped a good one by one of them heavy duty linen napkins for his not so clever cuteness.

Really? I always thought it was a term of affection. The red-haired people of this world have certainly adopted the term. I see it being used positively all the time. Maybe at one time it was derogatory?
