Hello everyone. My name is Ronald van Assen. I'm 45 years old (or young) and from Bodegraven. That's a small village in The Netherlands. So I want to excuse myself for making some spelling mistakes, for English is not my native language.
I'm a big King fan since I was 12 or 13 years old. The first time I read a King book I couldn't stop reading. At that age the stories were terrifying for me. Sometimes I couldn't sleep for several days.
Now I write my own books. I started writing when I was 40 years old. At this moment my first 5 novels were published in The Netherlands but I've already written over 15 books. The rest will be published the comming years. Unfortunately they are in Dutch although one of the books will be released in English this year. I mainly write fantasy and horror novels but I've also written a detective and historic novel.
The way I write is a bit strange. I'm diagnosed with a personality disorder and bi-polaric disorder. The first 40 years of my life I've had the most terrible hallucinations and obsessions. I still have these hallucinations but I've managed to use them during the writing proces. The characters in my books show and tell me what to write. For me it's like watching a movie in my head. The only thing I have to do is to write down what I see and hear. And believe me, sometimes that's pretty scary.
