Hello from a Constant Reader in Wisconsin. :)
I was introduced to Stephen King at a young age. A friend of my grandmother's came to town for a visit, and knowing that I was an avid reader, she gave me a copy of "Night Shift" to read. Looking back, it might have been an inappropriate book for someone so young (as the nightmares that "The Boogeyman" gave me might attest to), but I fell in love. The fact that someone could write something as horrifying as "The Boogeyman", but then could write something as beautiful and sad and touching as "The Last Rung On The Ladder" really impressed me, and set me on the road for my eventual degree in English/Literature.
Since then, SK has always been a huge part of my life. I literally grew up to the Dark Tower stories, starting them as a boy and finishing them as an adult. Every book reminds me of a specific time in my life, and I have always felt like SK was a close friend that has always been with me, but that I've never met.
So today I took the plunge and joined the message board. :)
Look forward to meeting all of you!
