My heart aches for Rocco. May he be over the Rainbow Bridge running and playing free. My thoughts are with his partner.

Critters are special to me. My thoughts on this subject may be slanted-- however, if Rocco is considered a fellow officer, then there is no excuse that can be made to prevent charges against his attacker and a conviction to the fullest extent of the law. The attackers actions led to the death of a "police officer".
from the article:
Court documents did not indicate whether Rush had an attorney who could comment on a possible defense in charges related to Rocco's death. But in similar cases throughout the country, suspects sometimes claim self defense to explain why they killed or injured police dogs.

Vests- the dogs need to wear vests. Yes they do present issues, but a human officer will don a vest, please put one on the dog! Shows self out.... too close to the subject of critters.

These dogs really are beautiful animals..so smart and love people, they react to training so well..I remember one of my coworkers had one named "Bear"..he would snuggle up and accept pats, and treats, but I swear that dog had a sense of humor..Mike would park at the side door of city hall during the overnight, early morning hours, and leave the rear window of his unit down about four inches for air for Bear.More than once,as I walked past around four am,Bear would launch himself at the window gap "ROWWRROOWRRWRROOWWRRR!!!" and I would grasp my heart and say Damn you Bear~! and that dog would literally grin, and then slink down into a position of ambush for his next victim..
