What does it mean when someone posts to a different thread but it appears to be responding to something you wrote on another thread? And it shows up on your Alerts? is this a coincidence or is it a personal msg? Alerts tell you someone is talking to you, yeah?

Your alerts are basically everything that involves you, or your participation. If somebody is talking specifically to you via a quoted post-like I'm doing now-it will give you a heads up in the Alerts. Same thing if somebody responds to a post in a thread that you have posted in.
You can control what you are alerted to by going to Alert Preferences in your Profile area. (hover over your username-top right of page-to access this.)

I have never seen little glasses, but I wonder if that has something to do with being moderated until you get to 150 posts (lucky you, it was 250 when I joined). I have quoted someone and moved it to a thread where I wanted to talk about it, instead of where it was - so that could be what happened there. But it could also mean a moderator moved your thread somewhere more relevant - I'd follow it and see what they had to say and where it ended up. You can mange your alerts to only receive what you want. A lot of us "like" everything we read - kind of to let you know "I hear ya" - that's what I do. Sometimes I don't have time to do that, but that doesn't necessarily mean I don't "like" what was said, you know what I mean?
