My first King book was probably It. I read it in high school and then moved onto The Stand and just continued. I haven't read all his books, but I've enjoyed many of them. I am a high school English teacher.
The reason I've joined is to try to find an answer to a question that has bothered me for several years. Has Stephen King ever mentioned having read Jane Eyre? There are scenes early in the novel that have made me thing of Firestarter, when Jane, in a rage, imagines her anger as if it was a raging heath fire. Students of mine reading the Red Room chapter made the connection to The Shining.
Would anyone have any leads if they don't know the answer?
Thanks,
Ben
