I just started reading "The Stand" and I have a few questions about it. Is the best place to post questions on the thread specifically designated for The Stand discussion, or should I go to one of the other question/discussion forums? I don't know how strict the rules here are about that sort of thing, but I know some sites really don't like you posting in the wrong place!

Oh, and I should mention I REALLY don't want to see any spoilers, so should I avoid the Stand page altogether? What is the rule here re: spoilers? Are they allowed on most threads? Should I assume a book will be spoiled for me unless it specifically says "no spoilers?"

Welcome to the Board! Now that you've made your initial introduction post, you can go to the other threads on the Board to join in an existing discussion or start a new one. Not all threads have spoiler warnings in the title and they will slip through sometimes so you might want to stay away from reading any existing ones until you've finished reading The Stand. We won't give you a hard time if you accidentally post in the wrong place and can move it if you do. :smile2: If you're not familiar with how to do a spoiler, we'd be happy to instruct you.

Welcome to the SKMB! Keep posting! Good post, good questions. I've made it a personal habit not to read any thread about any book I plan to read. That's the only way to assure avoiding spoiling. As for not posting in the right place, you'll get used to what works here and what works for you. The moderators are very used to dealing with things, evidence of which you will soon see, if you have not already, compared to other message boards. However, it is discouraged to post from your bathroom, because it's gross, and if you're in the shower, for obvious reasons.

You don't need to avoid The Stand page altogether but if you enjoy your stories with nothing more than the basic description you best not look at any threads. I'd be cautious of General Discussions, too...as you might see something in one of those that contains a spoiler as you define it. If you start a thread and you think there will be spoilers in the thread you could put "spoilers" or some variation in the thread title. Looking at the box where you type a reply, to do a spoiler you click on the...thingy...three to the right of the Smiley face and type between what comes up...your cursor will be blinking in that space...the spoiler is that thingy up above where you type..resembles a flag. When you click on that four options drop down, can't miss the spoiler option. Don't forget to wear your safety harness. I have mine on, still. Nice to meet-ya.
