i am new here, and I cry your pardon that my first post is sorta a complaint. I hope I don't make you all angry. But anyway, here we go...
I live just outside OKC, and heard about the tour coming to Tulsa, and was so excited. My wife and I planned it all out. We decided we'd get tickets the day they went on sale, and get a hotel room in Tulsa, stay a couple days and go to the event.
The info at Cains Ballroom, the venue Mr SK would appear at, says that everyone at the event would get a copy of the book, 400 of which would be signed, at random. (Random? Purpose? Hmmm....) that was an attempt to be funny, by the way. So this tells me that there's AT LEAST 400 tickets available, right? Remember this number, please, it gets better.
So, with iPhone in hand, and my iPad at the ready, I called the number for Ticketfly.com, and simultaneously went to their website at 9:59 AM, as the tickets went on sale at 10AM. The website says no tickets available at 9:59, next refresh after 10 also says none available, but I'm not worried, because I have them on the phone and am on hold. The Ticketfly.com rep answers me at 10:04, and tells me the event is sold out. I asked how this could possibly be? If there are AT LEAST 400 tickets, and each person is limited to 2, how is this mathematically possible? I asked to speak to someone to answer this question, and was offered to speak with a manager and asked to hold. I held for 20 minutes until they disconnected me.
So, talking on the phone to my wife, she's at work on her laptop, right? She tells me at 10:20, some place called ticketofficesales.com has the tickets for sale, and that they are between $460, and $575.
So, long story short, I'm not going to get to see Mr King speak, one of my dreams. That's OK, I'll live, but I wanted to let you guys know that I think there's some shady stuff going on here. I was born at night, but not LAST night, you know? How can you sell 400 (minimum) tickets in 2 minutes? I don't for a second believe the shadiness is on Mr Kings part. The original price for the tickets were $30-$35. But I think it reflects badly on the venues part, as well as this Ticketfly.com, and ultimately whoever is allowing these shenanigans. Am I wrong? Man, I really would like some feedback on this, because I'm really upset. Any thoughts, advice, or questions, fellow Constant Readers? I also wanted to let you all know to be careful trying to get tickets to these events, because I call shenanigans on these venues and stuff.
