Anyone catch the film "The Houses October Built?"

A very entertaining Halloween film, although not perfect. It's one of those films where someone is recording the action. I like that genre, actually. In fact, I am looking forward to that time-travel movie Project Almanac.

The ending is terrifying, I thought. And the concept was clever.

Like I say, not perfect, but this would be a great film to watch on Halloween. Watching this first, then Trick 'r Treat, would be a good way of celebrating the dark holiday.

When you see it, be sure to post what you think of it. I'm assuming it will hit Netflix soon, although I am not 100% sure how that service works.

It was a good concept and for a low budget indie I thought they did pretty good building atmosphere and suspense. Some of the haunted houses were interesting. My only qualms were that it was a little too loud. By loud I mean they screamed more than they talked and it was too dark a lot of the time so you couldn't really see what was happening. It was okay for what it was.

Thanks for the review. (Please note: I have to mention the ending in the next paragraph, so stop reading if you need to.)

I enjoyed, though I agree it was not perfect. But the ending though -- that was scary, wasn't it? Funny thing is, I read comments on another forum saying something that I thought as well -- shouldn't the villains have just frightened the characters and then allowed them to live, based on the theme of the film as expressed in an earlier scene? The sequel -- if there is to be one -- might then have gone further and shown the next set of characters on display in one of the haunted houses.

And by the way, one of the scariest images from the film -- remember when they are touring that particularly dark haunted house and they see a small container/refrigerator/whatever and someone keeps banging on it, trying to get out? Then you ask: is a crime going on here?

A good project overall, I think.
