From a standpoint of logic, I feel safe in disagreeing.Greetings
Just my opinion... but I don’t think the DT series has a big enough following as of yet to gather a lot of interest for associated sales items...
Well you can't argue with logic. But marketing often doesn't operate logically. From a standpoint of logic, I feel safe in disagreeing.

My point is that it's illogical to me to think that the Dark Tower series doesn't have a large enough following to achieve at least very good success. If this is true, then the reason marketers haven't taken advantage of it very much by now I assume is their ignorance. But I must assume that the DT has more than enough of a following already.Well you can't argue with logic. But marketing often doesn't operate logically.
That is sound reasoning and they could very well get a big enough interest related the the DT series. My reasoning involves the number of potential people in a target market. Let’s use “The Shinning” and “Carrie” as an example. I believe the number of people that have either watched the movies and read the books, or both, is a far more expansive market then those who have only read the books (and have interest in purchasing related merchandise). Just my opinion, but if I were to make a capital investment into something, I would put it towards a target market that has the potential of perhaps 10 to 100 times more than another. My point is that it's illogical to me to think that the Dark Tower series doesn't have a large enough following to achieve at least very good success. Well explained. So, you aren't saying that in your opinion there aren't enough DT fans, just that for a successful marketing campaign there need to be a lot more of them and/or a catalyst of some kind, probably movie? This sounds logical, especially to someone who has no choice but take someone's word who's more knowledgeable of business. That is sound reasoning and they could very well get a big enough interest related the the DT series. Yes that’s what I mean. Then again you have to look at it another way... that perhaps there are too many businesses out their already marketing to the larger market, and maybe it would be better if you concentrate on a smaller market that has less competition with you. Essentially being the big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond. And then there is much more to consider... whether your product is more appealing to the bigger market than your competition, and etc, etc (lots of factors need to be considered).Well explained. So, it's always a gamble, just conceivably a better bet under certain circumstances, preferably ideal ones. In your opinion how much will things change once a DT movie is finally a reality?Yes that’s what I mean. Sometimes it's just a crap shoot on which way to go, without doing some sound market sampling.
Big time! Especially if it is a big hit. Visual imagery and memorable quotes, and a good dose of marketing, resonate better long term with the public than do printed words in a book IMO.So, it's always a gamble, just conceivably a better bet under certain circumstances, preferably ideal ones. ...dammit....
