We had another torrential downpour Wed night, small hail and flash flooding. Saw yesterday there were several funnel clouds spotted here and there, too. Yesterday I don't think we hit 60, today is going to be 81. What a strange spring/summer so far.

Still no water in the basement though. At least for us. Several people on the street have not been so lucky, though.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Tune in to TWN channel for more details. Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain. A cold front will sweep across East Saskatchewan today triggering thunderstorms along it. Thunderstorms will develop along the cold front early this afternoon from Hudson Bay to Estevan, and then the thunderstorms will track into West Manitoba in the late afternoon. Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isn't a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to storm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #MBStorm.

Special Weather Statement

PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CAN BE EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AS DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE STREAMS ACROSS THE AREA. THERE CONTINUES TO BE A THREAT OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL...AND FLOODING IS A POSSIBILITY WHERE ANY TYPE OF TRAINING SETS UP. ADDITIONALLY...A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE NEAR THE YUCATAN PENINSULA IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE SOUTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO TODAY AND POTENTIALLY ORGANIZE INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OR TROPICAL STORM AS IT HEADS TOWARD THE NORTHWEST GULF THROUGH TUESDAY. ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM RESULTING IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FLOOD THREAT FOR PORTIONS OF THE AREA. THROUGH WEDNESDAY...WIDESPREAD RAINFALL TOTALS COULD EASILY AVERAGE 6 TO 8 INCHES WITH SOME AMOUNTS EXCEEDING 10 INCHES WHERE THE BEST TRAINING SETS UP. THIS WILL OBVIOUSLY LEAD TO A DANGEROUS FLOOD SITUATION. FLASH FLOOD WATCHES ARE GOING TO BE NEEDED. RESIDENTS ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS ARE URGED TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE WEATHER OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

Was on the highway yesterday evening heading for parts remote. Big towering boomer ahead of me. Yup, 20 minutes later, I was being hammered with deafening hail that sounded like it was trying to come right through the roof and the windshield. I didn't pull over because I'm way too familiar with cases of stopped cars in bad weather getting wiped out by tractor-trailers. Finally got through it, finally got to the hotel, got out, and checked in. Didn't look at the car. Kinda afraid to. It's a bit of a pet for me.

Glad you are safe and hope there isn't any car damage. Be careful.
