Was calm here one second, windy as all get out and sleeting the next. Started so suddenly it scared me.

Weather says 40 mph sustained winds all day, gusts up to 60 mph. Yikes. Guess I won't be going out today, other than to and from school with the kiddos.

Got into a fight on the way to school with my youngest daughter this morning. Mornings are in the 30’s, yet she still wears a light sweater or no outerwear at all. She wants the car cranked up to Sahara Desert temperatures. I don’t want to be a sweating mess when I get into work. I tell her to dress for the weather conditions, not for fashion... To please use your brain! There is no happy medium for us.

How about a winter coat needs to be worn in the car, thus avoiding the additional heat. When she gets out, leave the winter coat. Presto, she's in fashion and you are not a melted mess. I know- theory is good, reality not so much!

((((EMARX)))) Hope the inside temps calm down for you.

Our extended forecast says snow for Thanksgiving and a low of 1F. :cold:

Maybe it will change, has been supposed to snow 4 or 5 times the last two weeks, and it always changes. I wonder if the weather people are sniffing glue!

It has been my experience that "reason" and 15 year old girls go together like oil and water. :(

I gave way a few days ago and started wearing my fall jacket. A leather one. Big and comfy and the wind isnt made that goes through. It is frost in the air in nights now but during the day we have perhaps 5-10 C. It has been a mild fall so far. If it continues in this speed it is even doubtful if we get snow for christmas. I mean real snow, that stays on the ground and does not melt away as soon as it lands. I like it to be snow for a short while. from the 12 of december to the 12 of january it is my ideal. But that never happens. When the temp goes down into several -C on the days i have to consider my winter jacket but it will stay in the closet until then.

My 16 year old will wear the coat, because she has 2 train trips that include a wait at the station, but 9 YO doesn't think a coat is 'cool'. Who cares that there's a canyon wind that drops his school playground to arctic temps (I know, because I do safety duty a few times a week & my hands freeze if I forget gloves), and his is an outdoorsy school that has an hour outside every day, no matter what! We fought the coat fight this morning, too :)

Kids are dumb.
