Not sure if this has been posted/viewed before, but this short video really resonated with me. I haven't spent as much time online this past year and have felt so much better for it. However, I've noticed the past couple of months my "sharing" on Facebook has started to increase so this video inspires me to reduce that again. I don't mess around with my phone when I'm out with friends, though, and they know that irritates me...I tend to share my exploits after the event, not as they're happening. Sheesh, that sounds like a crappy defence, even to me!! :wink2:

Technology is definitely a good thing, heck otherwise we'd all never have "met" and I've really met some amazing friends from this board...but it saddens me that so many people allow online activities to dominate their everyday existence, instead of simply living in the moment and savouring it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the video...ironic really!

That is so sad. Still a dinosaur with computer, and cell phone is emergency use only. Human interaction, in person, is almost non existent anymore.
I am thankful for the computer technology. It does allow instant international and long distance communication much easier.
Can remember when my parents thought "call waiting" was terrible. Can you imagine what they would think to see everyone walking around with a cell phone and ignoring those around, or talking via text to the person standing right next to you!!

It amazes me that kids who's 5 or 6 years old know how to use a cell phone and even owns a smartphone. They also know how to use
computer. When I was 5 or 6 years old and it was 1992 & 1993 when I was at that age. My mother would have never bought me a cell phone
not to mention a smartphone or a computer. But we lived a different time then, we didn't know about anything like this. We were just told in advance what time our parents should come and pick us up from let's say school and then we waited for them to come. We couldn't call and say that come earlier or anything like that. I was 13 years old when I got my first own cell phone. I remember that my friend told me once that her father had forgot to pick up her
from school. She waited 3 h for her father to come and he finally came and was so sorry that he had completely forgot it. My friend was 8 at that time
when her father had forgot to pick her up from school and that was 1996. I also remember that my mom almost forgot to pick me up from school when I
was 9 or 10 years old and I waited an hour for her to come. So it's easier today when kids can call their parents to come and pick them up. We couldn't do
that.

I'm not a big fan of the smartphone, maybe because I don't have one so don't know how to use them and I really don't like to see them in hand too often. My kids don't get their first phone until they're 13.

I don't have one either, Flake (though my phone does have basic internet functions), and my kids were 15 at the youngest when they got their first phone. I love the internet, I use my computer daily... but there have to be limits or people do forget how to connect. That's why I'm not often around on the weekends--that's family time :)

Yesterday in the Applebee's a little boy came in with his dad, he was maybe five and he had a smartphone in his hand!!!! So wrong.

That's what bothers me the most . . .to see such young kids with them. I'm not a big fan of cell-phones/smart-phones. In mostly all photos taken of groups now you everyone holding a phone . . .it is so tacky.

(To my knowledge) I don't own anything made by Apple.

. . .I'll stop now.
