I was in a mall this afternoon and decided to go into the bookstore, which I haven't done in years. It was a branch of the same retail chain I used to buy all my SK books when I was in school. I guess the old instincts kicked in and I looked around to see what King books were on display. After making my way through all the "Young Adult" (a term I loathe) sections, I realised two things:

1) There wasn't a dedicated Horror/Supernatural section
2) There wasn't a dedicated Stephen King display.

So I got pissed and walked out. ;;D Man, how much of a snob do you have to be to walk out of a bookstore just cause they don't have a SK shelf?

You aren't alone, judging by everyones posts .. including myself. I stopped by B & N in Tyler the last time I went to town. They had Finders Keepers on display (which I already had of course). I asked them where their SK section is. First of all, they had no clue. When they finally found it for me, there was only a couple different paperbacks . I'm like, okay.. where are the rest of them? And don't you have any hard backs? They said they can order them for me.. I said, No Thanks.. I can order them myself and left.. feeling annoyed and some what angry.

The last time I was in a bookstore, I was kind of--I wish I was shocked but I wasn't, what's the word for that?--to see they had a whole section dedication to "Paranormal Romance."
lol.. what pray tell is paranormal romance? :dunno:

I think it's books about sparkly guys who look like Robert Smith from the Cure that have mostly platonic relations with trendy teenage girls....

Paranormal Romance started when "Twilight" exploded as far as I can tell. Now it's every combination of any sort of non-human creature with a human or other sort of non-human creature.

They can't be together because she's a Fire Giant and he's a Snowman, and it's "just too dangerous." It's all angsty like Romeo and Juliet for 1-12 novels until they work it out somehow.

Lest you wonder why I'm an expert, I will remind you that I have 3 female humans in my home who were in the perfect demographic when this particular genre hit the fan.
