Since it's Memorial Day weekend, a nudge to remember the fallen.
All from Life magazine photos. This one of a Marine drinking from a canteen during the battle of Saipan was well-known at the time.
The magazine got a ration of grief from some quarters for putting faces to the numbers.
Speaking of putting something to the numbers. After considering it for months, he U.S. government released this photo of three dead American soldiers at New Guinea, and it provoked more outrage and outcry than simply hearing about the thousands of troops dying in battles around the Pacific.

That would be Libby's canned pumpkin pie mix. I recognize the can, and its good too. I've used it several times.

Gee - how did you know that? (I love pumpkin pie with whipped cream).
Its a product I use. pumpkin pie is one I don't do from scratch. LOL Buy the Libby's mix and doctor it up just a touch. little extra pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg or all spice whatever I have handy. Pecan pie is from scratch heck I even grow my own pecans. LOL

What a cool picture...sparkle in his eye and a smile tugging on his lips. I wonder what article he is holding up.
Its a short story called The Gingerbread girl. We passed it around the world and everyone signed it and put in post cards for his birthday many years ago.
That's the Gingerbread Girl article that went most of the way around the world and back to him... along with postcards included from each stop.
If my memory serves me right Marsha delivered it and was kind enough to get pics for us. If I'm wrong someone please correct me. LOL
