Hits home. My daughter's best friend, Chris, is transgender. Last night, his mom confiscated his binder, told him there was something wrong with him, and forbade him from wearing anything that was not 'girl clothes'. My heart hurts for him. I will never understand how parents can get their own ego so wrapped up in their kids' sexuality (or anyone's, with the possible exception of their spouse). I'd be worried for my kids if they were gay (given how cruel people can be), but otherwise their sexuality has nothing to do with me.

Here, there and everywhere.

And how sad, that he doesn't feel like he has a safe harbor at home!

Those are words for any parent to live by. But for someone who lives their life in Faith and can also be inclusive despite teachings and dogma is an example we should all try and emulate. Too many live their lives based on a few selected lines of text taken out of context.

I use to joke that I hoped my daughter would be gay and find out early enough to prevent any teenage pregnancy that I'll inevitably end up paying an arm and a leg for.

I think it's funny when so many people still have a problem with gay folks. In the 90's maybe I took it more serious but these days, your swimming against the current with that kind of mentality. It's never gonna go back to the way it was, you can either adapt to the climate and accept it or live the rest of your life in an ever growing state of frustration. I hear it from guys I work with all the time, they don't want their sons watching ESPN because the guy from the Giants kissed his boyfriend at the draft. Meanwhile, you have no problem buying them record from guys who rap about doing drugs and shooting people, or letting you daughter watch " 12 years old and pregnant" on MTV. All that is fine, it's that gay kiss where you draw the line?? Your priorities are all kinds of F'd up.
