My sweet, sweet friend used to post "LOL" at really random moments on facebook. Finally her daughter posted behind her, "Mom, I know you mean well, but LOL does NOT mean "lots of love". Bless her.

In the 90s it did mean Lots of Love. I used to use it often . . .and then, it changed when texting came around.
