One of Mr. King's first well-known published stories, thanks muchly to Mrs. King's rescue from the rubbish heap; this story keeps making the rounds in movie making land! It is on its third remake, someone please correct me If I am wrong on the number. So much to talk about when the story is read and re-read.

You're right, the first one was in 1976 with Sissy Spacek. The second one was in 2002 with Angela Bettis. And the third one (2013) is with Chloe Grace Moretz. I never saw the second one and forgot about it. I can't think of another film that's had two remakes!

Plus a musical (well, they get points for trying), and at least one unauthorized sequel (they get no points for that) . . . goes to show what a powerful and compelling tale this continues to be, and why it was such a great launching pad for a wonderful career.

Both Spacek and the one who played her mother was very very good. Was it Piper Laurie?

Piper Laurie was just excellent in this movie - very believable as the religious fanatic mother :encouragement:
