....for those of you still scoring at home-The GNT has landed!!!...I have been waffling on where to make reservations for the Kon, and some of you have asked me for recommendations-all I can say is, go where you think you'll be most comfortable.....it's impossible to gather all of us in one location....Tracy took a look at our lodging situation and immediately came up with a terrific idea.... we have rented a lake house for a week!!!....and here's the neat part-it's just across Pushaw Lake from where the first Kon gathering was held.....cast about, don't box yourself in as I did.....gathering together is not difficult-no matter where everyone stays....the place she found sleeps at least six, so Tracy and I will bunk down, and my oldest boy and his fiancé will be along and Vince and Deb from the Board will round this arrangement out.....get this, the place has two kayaks and a canoe....Seth(GNTSON)is nearly as large as I am.....us trying that would be akin to putting floaties on a blue whale.....

Do you mean Debbie913?

Now 100% that I/we can't make it this time. The start of the New Year brought a couple of new relatively minor (in themselves) issues that caused new financial headaches, and that was that.
On the plus side, I'm already squirrelling cash away for the next one (if there is a next one).
I'm disappointed you can't make it but understand those financial headaches. Hope things improve for you soon!

Ta. It just seems like, as soon as we said we'd go, the house and car decided to start falling apart and a couple of family members started asking for (as it's turned out, ongoing) help. Should have snuck up on Fate instead of tempting it, I suppose.

Well, I'm all in. Flight options from Seattle are truly terrible. There was really only one combination that would make it do-able since I sadly can't extend to a longer stay so I went ahead and bought the tickets rather than risk the flights selling out. We're going to Prague and Budapest in November and this trip to Maine is already more expensive but I'm TOTALLY EXCITED!

Isn't it crazy that the prices are so expensive, more so than when flying outside the country?

It is totally nuts! Also, the flight options and layovers (couldn't find a single direct option) are so terrible that I can get to Europe faster than I'm getting to Maine.
I checked on flights from Spokane to Maine for the last Kon and was astounded at what it would cost to fly there. Are you flying directly into Bangor? Marsha said it's cheaper to fly into Portland and then rent a car. Some folks even flew into Boston, I think, and then drove on up to Bangor and saved some money. One member even took the train from Seattle to Maine, but it would take too long for my liking.
