....after speaking with my eldest son, the Viking clone......he gave me a very good idea as he was riffing off locales in Kansas(having been stationed at Ft. Riley )....that being Dodge City....mark it down.....what a way to Gunslinger a Kon!......

What is going on regarding the future of the message board here?
Please don't tell me this is coming to an end.
I just returned, started to get comfy and everything!
Beginning January 2, the Board will only be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and when I retire at the end of June 2020, the Board will be shuttered. That still gives you the next 18 months to join in and you're very close to having enough posts so that you won't be moderated.
...and the last Kon will be a tip of the Stetson to our Host's archetype character....The Gunslinger.....

pass through a version of Topeka, Kansas? Plus, I always think of the scenes from The Stand.

As far as we know, this is going to be the very last SKMB King Kon. Let's talk about what, where, who and when. We already know why.

...well girl, you jumped the gun on me...pun intended.....this will be the last Kon, and no-it won't be in Bangor-that's been done twice......I spent a good deal of time thinking over where to have this, so that the most folks could attend.....I chose the heartland of America, and plunked my finger down on Dodge City, Kansas....it will be a stretch, but gunslinger stuff ya know.....it's sort of halfway from both coasts and while it doesn't have anything directly related to King, the state is mentioned in many of his writings as characters pass back and forth....I avoided trying to come up with another locale that was directly Kingcentric because there aren't that many left really and those that are-are tenuous at best-since the prison where the Green Mile was filmed doesn't allow visitors....my sincere hope is by attempting to center this sucker, it's more accessible those who can't do from one coast or another...I am working on contacting the Dodge City folks to let them know of our interest and to put together some sort of itinerary.....Boot Hill will be a good time and other spots will reveal themselves as time goes by.....I will find out about motels and lodging and try to keep everyone updated with links and such.....this is a labor of love from me to all of you, and I hope I don't disappoint....this one is to important to me, a summation of all that has come before......
Oh. At a place not even King related? Weird. Not all of us got to enjoy the Bangor experience. Some of us haven't been to a Kon yet.
He states his reason quite clearly, it’s the most accessible point for a majority of members. Plus there aren’t that many left that are asseciable by the public.
....I cannot help the past or that reality, this is my vision and mine only....it is my swan song as a coordinator, I will not shoulder a Kon once the Board is no longer....those who choose to join are welcome, and as always-those who don’t share my vision may host their own event or events....I am just one man, not the Grand Poobah of all things King....
....long time, no type....just a quick note to let everyone know I haven't forgotten about the Kon....things have been just a bit overwhelming for me of late....it has never been far from my mind, and I will be making some calls soon....I apologize for my failings.....
