Not for the spouse. My neighbour woke up, her husband was dead. She left the house and refused to ever step foot in again.

Well - yah - that would be a heck of a shock for the spouse - I never even thought of that - I meant for the person involved. Better to die quickly rather than to waste away slowly in a hospital, suffering and in great pain.
