Then it really makes no since to me why you moderate people. What are you looking for when you read peoples posts who are not modded. Because we're not sitting at the keyboard 24/7, and because Stephen is a public figure, we need to know if something inappropriate is being posted--before it has been sitting (potentially) for an hour or two in public view.Then it really makes no since to me why you moderate people. New members are basically unknown entities... until they join in and we get to 'know' them a little.
There is much that you don't see, because it is caught in the moderation process. Many people also make accounts just to spam the forum and so moderation also catches (and eliminates) that behaviour.
edited: and yes, sometimes long-term members get caught up in situations whereby they temporarily post inappropriate messages and moderation helps to solve those issues too.

I would love to have the power of the Mod Gods. Following people around. Straining your eyes reading hundreds of threads at the same time as Finders Keepers. Answering random questions that people direct towards you. Sounds GGGGRRRRRREAT!!
