......the "jive" would be an absolute dumpster fire in front of a large audience.....
I agree. No way viewers could see it as a joke, more like an unnecessary racist undertone. However, the reader sees it as what it is, a joke that Jerome finds hilarious because it adjetates bill. It's sad we have to avoid this content because people can't think/interpret for themselves. Regardless both episodes I've seen are great!

Episode 2 was good. Brady is a creep. ;-D
Introduced Mary Louise Parker as Janey, I like her in the part. I am impressed with the kid playing Jerome. He seems at home, acting. You can't tell he's acting. I don't know if this is his first time in a show, but he is good.

Easter egg...Olivia's (and Janey's) apartment was 19c . :applause:

I'm actually really impressed with the show. The character that really stands out for me is Lou, the characters never really stood out for me in the book except to color Brady's world. Maybe it's the writing and what the actress is bringing to the characters. The look she gives Brady at the end of Episode where she gets an inkling that there is something wrong with Brady was very subtle and well done.

Loved episode 2 :) It was dark but it wasn't quite as dark as the first episode. I have a question... It's been three years since I read the novel so I don't remember everything but I don't remember the character played by Holland Taylor at all. Was she in the novel?
No, she was added as a device to be able to fill in parts that were internal dialogue or narration in the book that wouldn't have translated well to film.

When I look over my shoulder,
What do you think I see?
Some other cat looking over
His shoulder at me.

Donovan's Season of the Witch was the perfect song for the ending scenes of episode two where Hodge's actions mirrored Brady's actions. There was a lot of thought put into this series :)

I get so excited when I find one!

Did anyone catch in Episode 1 when Brady was driving to work
he was singing "I don't want to die in a Pet Semetary' - or some such, I can't remember the exact words, but it was about dying or being buried in a Pet Semetary

I'm going to watch Episode 2 this afternoon while I'm doing laundry - or thinking about doing laundry.
