Whatever happened to the plans to make Mr. Mercedes into a TV show spoken of in 2016 involving David Kelley? I haven't seen anything lately.

...if only they could reassemble the UTD crew to produce it!......The last I heard from Stephen a month or so ago was that it had been back-burnered so don't expect to see it anytime soon.

I would love that.Is NBC still interested in redoing The Tommyknockers? A few years ago it was announced that they would feature this book and Rosemary's Baby around the same time. Is it still a contender?

Doesn't look like it. I'd forgotten that was even being considered. Is NBC still interested in redoing The Tommyknockers? A few years ago it was announced that they would feature this book and Rosemary's Baby around the same time. Is it still a contender?

...Idris Elba has already been cast as Holly.....Works for me, in my opinion, the trilogy screams "movie adaptation", not tv.
Once the film rights are sold, distribution is the responsibility of the rights holder, not Stephen. As such, I have no idea what motivated them to go with this network but it's usually because they make them an offer they can work with so that the project will get produced. Audience Network is part of DirecTV which has about 20 million subscribers in 2016. If it's like other productions, I'm sure there will be international rights negotiated and distribution to other markets once it has aired for a while with Audience Network.Question for Ms. Mod,
I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere already, but I read this week that the series will be on something called Audience Network. I was curious how this deal came about, and does this mean that the reach will be limited? It seems to me that it will Mr. Mercedes TV show | The StephenKing.com Message Board limited, and I find it odd that a more high-profile venue was not possible. Did AT&T make an offer the producers couldn't refuse, or were the producers stuck with this venue? This is not a criticism -- I think being platform-agnostic and having a desire to have properties on both major and minor players can be a useful business model (I presume that other rights internationally may have been sold, as well). I'm just curious, mostly. Looking forward to this project, although I wish it would come on earlier than 2018.
