This is going to have been such a huge learning experience for you... all great writers/directors started off right where you are today.I just finished watching Merrick (as it will be when you see it, minus a few quick fixes), and I am still reeling. It is one of the oddest things I've seen in my life, mostly because it is my brainchild. It's not really "good" per se, but by god is it strange. There are so many places I f**ked up, but there are also parts which are, IMO, really damn good.
There are highs and lows/ good and bad in every learning experience. Sounds like you are heading for the highs. Anxious to have a look.I just finished watching Merrick (as it will be when you see it, minus a few quick fixes), and I am still reeling. I was hoping that you were going to hack into the Oscar telecast and premier Merrick to the WORLD!!!!!!My old laptop simply isn't handling the export process, so my afore-mentioned tech savvy mate is gonna fix it up for me. I have to clean up some of the raw files and give him time-codes of errors that need fixing, so god knows how long that will take.
In other news, development on my next movie is well underway. I won't say too much, but it's very much a period film. I was a bit unsure if I could pull it off at first, but the costuming is going along really well (we've got about the cast costumed and ready to go so far, and it looks great), and I know some perfect locations. At the rate it's going at the moment, the movie well end up about 90-100 minutes long. I have a new laptop which should handle the process really well, and all the people I'm working with I have are really good and ultra-enthusiastic, so this should be a much smoother process than Merrick. We're treating it way more professionally this time, with a proper sound set-up (I'm going to try and make a mock boom-mic next weekend), proper editing software, and a filming schedule that we're planning way in advance.
