I'm not sure if I am happy or leery about this. This is supposed to be a true sequel, picking up where The Queen of the Damned left off. While I am enjoying her Wolf Gift Chronicles novels of late, I had tired of her Vampire stories after The Queen of the Damned. Books like Memnoch the Devil and Blackwood Farm bored/irritated me. Hopefully she gets back on track and this new book will be a solid installment in the Vampire Chronicles.

Having read all of her Vampire/Witch novels, of course I will have to get this one! She definately was scraping the bottom of the literature barrel after Memnoch The Devil- I mean, seriously, where can you go after you've had your main character meet God? Really, where? I really enjoyed Tale Of The Body Thief, I thought it was a great story idea. I have her first book in the 'Wolf' series still in my TBR pile. I enjoyed her 'Christ' novels, they were quite interesting to me.

I liked the Christ novels too. I was disappointed she never did the third and final installment in the series.

I'll give it a try if one of you find it good. I agree- she drifted a bit for a long while - Blackwood Farm was almost comical. I loved The Witching Hour and Servant of the Bones. I'd like to see a collection of stories about all of the stuff the Talamasca has archived.
Blackwood Farm is the book that made me stop reading her. "Comical" is a great way to describe it, sadly.

And the follow ups weren't that great: Taltos and Lasher weren't what I wanted at all.
I agree.
In general, I am not a fan of book series. I always feel authors do a great job with the first book, then steadily go downhill from there. There are some exceptions though: SK's DT series and JK Rowling's Harry Potter books come to mind. Though I must say, I did have to get used to the change in writing style and pace of the DT series after the stark beauty of The Gunslinger. And I was very disappointed with the ending of the Harry Potter series.

Did you read recently that Rowling said that Hermione should have ended up with Harry?

I read the intial book in the series and I seem to recall enjoying it. The Witching Hour was compelling, though the ending left me wanting.
I need to get my eyes checked. I quickly scanned the title of this thread and I thought it said:
"New Anne Rice Vampire Cookbooks" :O_O:

Yes I did. Not sure how I feel about that. In general, I disliked the fact that she tied it all up and brought them into the future. I'm not one for pat endings. I'm sure she did this though so that she could continue the series at some point with a fresh group of students and their years at Hogwarts.

I loved the vampire novels. I read a few of the witch novels and lived them...not sure how many. I never started the Farm book. But Tale of the Body Thief I enjoyed.

I decided not to read the Christ books. And I just got busy with other books and never got around to her Wolf books.

If you don't mind sharing @annemarie, why did you decide not to read the Christ books? They are quite interesting, whether a believer or not.
Anne has always struggled with Catholicism. When writing the Christ books, she pretty much renounced the vampire books. Then she had a "falling out" with the church and decided not to continue the Christ story. Now she's back to writing about vampires. She's an odd one, that Anne Rice.
