Hello Forums!

I'm 34 and come from NB, Canada. I only recently started reading anything by Stephen King and only picked up a paperback of Joyland on a whim.

I've read a few of the Donald Westlake (Richard Stark) 'Parker' books and noted that it was dedicated to the late Mr. Westlake.
I finished the book in a couple of days and quite enjoyed it. Joyland was a refreshing noir style coming-of-age tale.

The next day I found Mr. Mercedes only by accident when passing a local bookstore. This time I couldn't put it down and am of course quite excited for the follow-up.
I could get into this Stephen King hard crime thing.

At this point I began looking for more SK to read. My Wife had given me a copy of 11/22/63 a couple of Christmas's ago and I'd never gotten around to reading it for whatever reason (Big book).
I don't know what to really say about 11/22/63 except that its now easily become my favorite book of all time.
I've never felt that way about a book before.

I'm reading The Stand now and while I definitely am finding it more terrifying than the three books I've finished I just can't put the thing down.

I'm kind of rambling here.

Cheers folks.

Thank-you everyone for the warm welcome.

I'm going on the SK Tour in Bangor on Tuesday and wish that I would have started IT ahead of time because of this. Definitely next on my list.
...you'll enjoy the tour very much I should think....we were able to do the same last year during our first ever King Kon, and it was quite cool...then the wife and I took our own little look-see of the Barrens before we left Maine...

wait....whaaat? your are going to try and read IT by Tuesday ?

I wish!

I only started The Stand a week ago and have made it half way, plan to pick up a copy of IT while visiting Bangor tomorrow.

After finishing "Book 1" of The Stand I'm now flying through it.
Early in the novel I had a problem with some of the dialog and pop culture references. I was only ten years old in 1990 and don't remember people conversing the way some of the slang comes across in the book (Which makes sense since it was written in the 1970's)
My problem is with some of the added material in the uncut book ESPECIALLY when the Schwarzenegger film "Predator" gets a mention. It just caused a disconnect with some of the 'groovier' dialog that's clearly carried over from the 70's.
Either way that's a superficial complaint, the book is absolutely brilliant and as with the rest of his books I've finished to date am now hooked and reading at a frenzied pace.

Also really looking forward to the tour on Tuesday, kind of hoping my lovely wife gets "King Fever" in the process. She's an avid reader but Joyland wasn't her cup of tea.
She is however a big musical fan.
Picking up tickets to The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County is most likely on the horizon if the tour goes well.
