Because resolutions just don't work.

Do you have one? I have many. I'm going overboard in the hopes that at least one will take. Forget the eating clean and exercising. I do both as often as I can but because I love bacon I will continue to fail.

Speaking of bacon: I have my own New Year's Day food tradition. I call it the Holy Trinity of Pork-Fest. I make ham and biscuits, greens cooked in a pound of diced thick cut bacon, and black eyed peas with sausage.

Anyhow: My challenges this year:

Actually read my book club's book selection. I joined a book club in September. I haven't read one yet. I do go to the meetings and ask lots of questions about the books. And mostly I've been glad I didn't waste my time. But. I should read them.

Floss daily. The teeth.

Go to Trivia Night at least once a month.

My fashion challenge: a new outfit every month, something I've picked from InStyle or StitchFix, but I HAVE TO THRIFT IT. No ordering online or high end labels (unless I get lucky in a thrift store). So, I'm going to keep it under $20 per month. This month I'm hunting for an army jacket and a floral jacquard dress. I know, it sounds dreadful, but it's cutting edge fashion. It was on the Prada runway.

I like everything about this outfit except the socks. I suppose that is what makes it high end fashion.

I agree - the socks are odd. But if I happen to find some ridiculous argyle socks, I will wear them. Not likely with open toed strappy heels though. Maybe mules?

Another challenge I just remembered this morning: get dressed entirely standing up. This is easy during the Spring and Summer, and most of Fall, but now that it's tights or leggings and boots every day - it's a bit of a challenge. This morning I oiled my feet up with some anti-stress lavender eucalyptus oil and then tried to get dressed. Ha - a bit slippery even on carpet. I had to think hard to balance enough. Am I the only one who has trouble doing this standing up - the putting on of tights and boots?

Not sure I could do it with tights--will have to try that--but have noticed a huge difference in my balance after doing yoga for the past year. I can now put on my socks standing up without a bit of imbalance. It's one of the reasons I wanted to get back into yoga as balance is so important as you get older.
