I've been making keychains and stuff from cord a while now, and now I've discovered survival bracelets. If any of you are familiar with these: what is your favorite knot? Do you prefer a buckle or other type of 'closing'? What would you add, if anything? I've made one with a carabiner as a 'closing' so that if you ever need to use your bracelet, you also have one of those to use. Suggestions?

I like the carabiner idea, and the plastic clips are right easy as well...other than that, these things look good in general or personalized with some type of charm or other doo-dad...

...what I meant by plastic clips...

I think it is called a Turk's Head...or maybe a Turkish Knot?
Maybe one long enough to use as a belt? With this for a fastener, a ratchet fastener...for those with an ever-changing ever-growing waistline?

Too, you could cinch it tight, wouldn't have to suck in your gut if you see a pretty lady coming your way?

I’m familiar with paracord on tools, but not as a fashion statement. Always considered it more of a survival or emergency item, usually added as a "one use" addition to tools – usually around $5-$10 for the knife with a paracord handle or sheath, or as an attachment to a flashlight. I have a couple knives and flashlights with paracord tied around them that I keep in the the cars for emergency purposes. The better the knot the better looking it is IMO (and I always thought the more knots the longer the length), but if you need to use the paracord for something I don’t see how you would ever get it to look like its original form back on the tool. Always thought it would make a good accessory to a number of different hardware, sporting and outdoor tools. Pretty neat item as a fashion accessory though when I looked up the other uses after reading this -- very rugged looking. Good luck!

Thanks :) The idea is, once you are in need, you unwrap the cord and use it, I don't think you're expected to remake the bracelet/handel/cord after that :D Good looking on that knife though!
