I have been trying to explain (from the beginning) that over-all content does affect whether a large image will be put behind a spoiler, or not.
Because you have more content AND often large images as well, your large images will be put behind a spoiler. If Scott had posted more images and wording as well as his large image, his large image would have been put behind a spoiler too.

Understood. :biggrin2: but I myself have posted with more than one large image and content, and it did not get put into a large image spoiler, which is why I thought I should ask for the size capacity up to that point it needs one and that way I could do it myself and also spare you the trouble of having to do it.

I only mention Scotts post because you suggested size comparison with others, which I already had tried to do , but had based on image alone of course, I wasn't aware of the content limit, I do appreciate your explaining it :smile2:

Because of the degree of variation, (multiple images, some large, some small, large font, extra writing content etc...) it makes it hard to give you a parameter.

Just use your best judgement and if it needs a spoiler, the moderators will add one. If in doubt, maybe post only a single image per message.

I'm sorry, I feel that I have answered you to the best of my ability and feel that you have been given ample information to help you understand why some posts are and some are not placed under spoilers.

I also put overly large images under spoilers from anyone who posts them but confess I have not been consistent which could lead to it seeming like some people's images are allowed while others' are not. Not adding the spoiler happens more often when I have a lot to do and don't want to take the extra time to do something that should have been done by the OP.

For all posters, please be aware of the size of the image you're posting. If it requires scrolling down the page simply because of its size, then please resize it so that the moderators don't have to. I know longer text messages may require scrolling but there's nothing that can be done about that other than making the font a lot smaller but that would also be an issue as it would be difficult to read.

How do I tell?
Please see Marsha's post above. I don't know how to resize an image so I can't help you with that.

Hmmm.
If the image is too large, try emailing it to yourself. On my iPhone, when I email an image, right after I press “send,” a window comes up asking if I want to send a small, medium, or large version. Click small, then try to post the image after you save the one from your sent email.

For Instagram pics, they don’t allow you to save the photo to your device, so I take a screenshot of it and post it from there. You can post an Instagram link here for people to click on and see the pic.

Sorry if this doesn’t help.

iPad

And doing it exactly the way I have since this forum was set up.

I always have to crop photos I take with my iPad before I can post them here. I use the Photogene ap. Photogene doesn't do a lot since it doesn't use much operating memory but it crops, adds text, and does a couple other things.

The only problem I've had with Photogene is that it doesn't always display my photo albums. I have to go to settings, click on security, and turn Photogene off and then back on.

If I have an image over 1 MB I will open it with Paint and then choose to shrink it by 50% - if that does not work, I just keep shrinking until it's smaller than 1 MB but still not too inky-dinky!

Not sure if you're on a PC or not, but I right click then choose "open with"...

Save your smaller image with a slightly different name.

Thanks Neesy :) I only have an iPad but back when I had a PC, I loved playing around with Paint. There might be a Paint ap for iPads. I played around with several art aps before I settled on Photogene.

Okay - thank you then - I have an iPad but still don't know very much about it (other than the fact that I always run out of lives on 'the Old Clockmaker') :peaceful:
